Name: Ulrike Eschner
Nationality: German Abschluss: BA French/English (MA English Literatures, part-time) Even during my school days, I have been very interested in languages. Foreign ones as well as my mother tongue. That's why I attended three advanced courses instead of the usual two: English, French and German. Right after my A-levels, I got a place at the Humboldt University in Berlin, where I graduated as Bachelor of Arts in French and English. As I have always wanted to work as a translator, I applied for a job as a student assistant for a Berlin-based freelance translator during my university studies. She was looking for a language student to carry out terminology research and proofreading tasks for her. She soon gave me some small texts to translate, as well, and those were my first steps in the industry. In 2007, I started working as a freelance translator, myself and started to work for several clients. My focus has always been on translations from English texts into German. In the section My Fields of Expertise you will learn more about the kinds of texts and areas I have experience in. |
